- ADRs or American Depository Receipts act as a proxy for foreign stock shares, but are issued in dollar value.
- Closed end funds are like a cross between mutual funds and ETFs which trade like stocks but are a collection of stocks from one country. For example, IFN is a closed end fund for India and CAF is a closed end fund for China. Both invest invest 100% in their countries but are managed by an American investment company and trade on the NYSE.
. They trade like stocks, in diversity.

Stock Investing Course On September 17, 2003 StockPatrol reported on a recent article published by Motley Fool, entitled Hype, Spam and Penny Stocks. The article, written by Motley Fool's Bill Mann focused on the dismal fate of that author's portfolio of highly hyped penny stocks.
There are other ways to invest in stocks. Dividend Reinvestment Plans (DRIPS) allow you to buy a single share of stock. As that share earns dividends, those dividends are used to buy additional shares. There are index mutual funds, in which you own a little bit of every stock traded on a particular index. There are also traditional mutual funds, made up of an array of stocks across many industries.
Stock System Trading One of the stocks featured in Mr. Mann's report was GoldSpring, Inc. (OTCBB: GSPG) which, according to the Motley Fool article, had declined 96% after it was added to his portfolio.
Did you know CFDs were created in the beginning of the 90s by the derivative trading desk at Smith New Court, a trading company based in London. CFDs provided clients of the company hedge fund with the opportunity to short sell (on the London Stock Exchange) on margin and also avoid taxes payable due to ordinary stock trading. By trading CFDs, important clients no longer needed to arrange their stock transactions physically.
Stock Investing Game Motley Fool subsequently clarified that report. Several of our readers recently asked us to reiterate Mr. Mann's clarification. It seems that Mr. Mann actually made his "virtual investment" in a company called StartCall, which was described as a "real time interaction technology company." Mr. Mann noted that StartCall, at the time it was being promoted through e-mail's, had no cash and just $511 in revenues.
I'm new to trading also but did a few yrs of homework and reaserch on how to invest and stocks before I have started trading and I thinks it's best being new to do some homework find a few diverse stocks(from different sectors) solid companies and put 70%-80% of what ur willing to invest in them even( 5 stocks 20%-25% each) and ride them for a while buying more when they dip and just keep up on them so u don't wear urself out. This all depends on how much ur investing with anything less than like $7, $10, 000 u should put in a fund of some sort to get diversified till u get more money. shorts take alot of mula don't worry bout that and day trading for now.
Market Stock Trading In March 2002 an Arizona-based mining company acquired the StartCall shell and changed its name to GoldSpring. Mr. Mann stood by his original statement that "[a]nyone unfortunate enough to have held the equity that was to become GoldSpring has lost 96% of his or her money." He noted that he had issued his clarification at the request of GoldSpring's management.
Online Stock Trading Canada For its part, GoldSpring has been announcing new developments. The Company recently disclosed that it had finalized an agreement to acquire a gold mining company located in Gold Hill, Nevada. GoldSpring also revealed, in advance of its Form 10-Q for the third quarter of 2003, that it has raised approximately $2.03 million dollars in equity: $250,000 from a private placement of restricted shares to accredited investors and $1.78 million from an "Institutional placement" of restricted shares. Hopefully, further details will become available once that quarterly report is filed.
