Stock Investing Course June 10, 2005 (AXcess News) New York - Crude oil drifted lower in New York Mercantile Exchange trading mid-day Friday as tropical storm Arlene edged into the Gulf having first pelted Cuba with strong rains.Crude oil futures were lifted earlier this week over fears of another devastating hurricane season in Florida. As tropical storm Arlene moved into the Gulf it was not showing signs of forming a strong eye, a condition that signals hurricane force weather conditions. That led crude oil traders to ease off futures markets Friday, bringing crude oil prices down over 40 cents a barrel.

Wed, Sep 12, 2007 Tropical Storm Humberto Forms Off Texas Sep 12, 10 PM EDT MIAMI (AP) - Tropical Storm Humberto formed Wednesday in the Gulf of Mexico, and officials issued warnings for parts of the Texas and Louisiana coasts where heavy rain could cause flooding. Rain was already falling along the Gulf Coast at 2 p.m. EDT, with Humberto' southwest of Galveston, Texas, the National Hurricane Center said.

Stock System Trading The National Hurricane Center has issued an alert for the coastal region stretching from Indian Pass Florida to Morgan City Louisiana for a storm-watch. Which was not enough to peak concern from crude oil traders on Friday.

Gasoline futures followed crude oil's decent in trading Tuesday with the NYMEX quoting wholesale gasoline at $1.735 a gallon, day trading. Heating oil was also down 5 cents at $1.93. Hurricane Wilma is centered approxamitely 245 miles southeast of Grand Cayman Island. The storm set a record for the number of tropical storms and hurricanes recorded for the Atlantic hurricane season, which has not been matched since 1933.

Stock Investing Game Traders were concerned about another hurricane hitting the coast as bad as hurricane Ivan, which destroyed thousands of homes and disrupted energy supplies. From Mississippi to Texas, crude oil refineries and Gulf-based drilling platforms are exposed to hurricane paths that if those storms struck in those areas it could disrupt refinery supplies of gasoline, diesel fuel and heating oil.

The heating oil consumption in the northeast lowered U.S. heating oil stocks 400, 000 barrels. U.S. government data showed crude oil stocks rose 900, 000 barrels, which traders had expected crude oil stocks to have declined, though refineries said that they were using less oil than even they had expected. U.S. refiners reported that they used 89.6 percent of their refining capacity last week, down1 percent on the week.

Market Stock Trading Oil stocks overall were trading down slightly Friday over concerns of the tropical storm Arlene moving into the Gulf of Mexico.
